For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2018 Posts: 30 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jun 2018 Posts: 30 | Not to bad day. Put jack under front leafs and removed shackle pins and drop leaves. The two upper pins on shackles on each side weren't budging. Read on site different ways to push them out. Hit em with penetrating oil then rbfh. Nothing. Used rbfcrowbar...nothing. one pin Actually rotates but nothing. Question...i never worked on these befor..will they hammer or push out just one way? Or will top shackle pins slide out either way? Frustrated and getting late i blasted with more penetrating oil and left..new leafs and king pins on the way so i like to finish removing tomorrow . Kinda unorthodox the way I'm going but i liked to degrease frame and paint from front of frame to about front of rear springs and stop for now. That way I will put all parts coming in..leafs shackles ..fwd brakes and drums rebuilt and installed and have front end completed then remove rear springs and brakes then paint and re install everything. Not the same as doing frame all at once..but you do what you can with what u got... | | |
