My main concern is more with reliability than security. After hearing some horror stories about the original type latch releasing, causing the hood to fly up, and considering how worn my original is I knew something needed to be done. I found some repro original type latches but they were poorly made and overpriced. Then I came across some pictures from past car shows of AD's with the universal latch installed and decided that would be the best way to go. I picked up a universal hood latch from Rocky Hinge and am now getting ready to install it. By looking at the pictures I can tell how the lower latch assembly was mounted, but not the upper.
