Have you tried removing the hub and drum as one assembly? To do that you would need to remove the axle shaft first by unbolting the inner ring of bolts in the center and pulling the shaft out, then removing the two ring nuts that hold the hub bearings in position. It might also be necessary to unbolt the wheel cylinder from the backing plate so the whole shoe/drum/wheel cylinder assembly can be pulled out far enough to access the adjuster and back the shoes away from the drum. Try not to destroy any more parts and pieces than necessary. Some replacements are a little hard to find. Good luck!
