Here's how to find top dead center: https://www.speedwaymotors.com/the-toolbox/locating-top-dead-center/28657The tool for doing that is easily made from a spark plug with the porcelain removed and the plug threaded for a bolt that will contact the top of #1 piston as you gently rotate the engine by hand. The marks can be made on a degree wheel, timing tape or the balancer itself. Easy, peasy!
