I am in the process of helping a friend with his '54 3100. He has the truck completely torn apart and has sanded most of the old paint off. After sanding he coated everything with oil (not sure exactly what kind) to keep it from surface rusting. The fenders have had body work done by a PO and they do have bondo on them that is now visible since he sanded the paint off.
Even though the parts will be cleaned thoroughly before getting primed and painted, I am concerned that the oil has penetrated into the old bondo and it will cause major headaches.
Am I correct to worry? What should be done to correct this before it is time to paint?
