On my 1951 Suburban, an OEM mirror was added to the cowl on the passenger side. By looking at the back side, they missed the factory placement up and towards the center of the cowl by 1/2" or so. The holes were drilled tight and not a slight oversize like the drivers side. So, either done at the dealership or some future owner, but most likely after it left the factory. I'm starting to work on lower cowl repair and putting the whole cowl in epoxy primer. If you are interested, my progress can be followed in the DITY Gallery. So, the question becomes, as I fill other wayward holes in the cowl, do I fill these also and move the mirror mounting down a 1/2'"?? Or just leave well enough alone?
