That is definitely a bummer for having to move it, but it'll be great once you are able to start working on it. By the way, mine was about that bad for chalky paint too, in fact it almost looked pink. Many hours later, using elbow grease and electric buffer with medium to fine polishing compound has put quite a shine to it.
