I hauled a 57 2-ton for a fellow member, from central Mo. to central ILL.
It had a steel dump bed on it.
F-250, power stroke with the 6 speed manual.
The trailer is a dual-tandem axle gooseneck, rated for 20,000 lb.
The whole rig probably weighed over 20,000 lb.
With 3:73 gears, it seemed to pull best at about 75 mph.
Fuel mileage dropped down to about 13 mpg though.

I know it was a heavy load, but the truck and trailer handled it well.
