Yes, I've got a very well-worn Delco service bulletin book that I inherited from my father that goes into pretty good detail about testing and adjusting generators and regulators. The binding is falling apart, and I've been intending to transfer it to loose leaf form with plastic document protectors to prevent any further deterioration. Drop me a PM or an email (in my profile) and I'll be glad to try to give you a quick tutorial on how to do the circuit testing and diagnosis that's needed to determine what's going wrong, and how to correct it. I believe I was probably among the last generation of mechanics who trained on DC generator/regulator systems, and made our living working on them, back in the late 1950's and early 60's.
