Don, what is your guess, now, for the bad part?

I believe having a fuel pump that “fit” but was too big was my problem. I also think it could have damaged the float pin seal too.
Also the gas tank was original. It had quite a bit of gunk in the bottom and probably going to give me problems soon enough. It would have been a lot of work getting it cleaned out and I would never be confident it would be 100%.
Now the motor starts without choking even after sitting for a few days.
