You asked for opinions, thoughts or great wisdom. I almost always have opinions, occasionally have thoughts, but rarely have great wisdom. So, here are my opinions, some of which reflect my experiences building lowered C10s in my younger days.

I have never had good results using air shocks. Air bags would be a better option in my opinion. Removing too many leaves from the spring pack may lead to "axle wrap" under hard acceleration, if not compensated for by other means; i.e.. traction bars or the like. I always liked the simple method of lowering the rear; raise the axle above the spring pack. However, that may give more drop than you want.
