My uncle broke mine when we were doing an engine swap from a 230 to a 292 in my '66 stepside. He just broke out his simple little stick welder and had it up and ready in no time. I haven't had a problem since.

15 minutes at most and the problem was fixed. It may be worth taking to a local welding shop. Shouldn't cost you no more than a couple of bucks or so.
