I bought a rebuilt 55 235 from a machine shop in Kansas. After about 20 minutes of run time it started leaking oil. After around 100 miles of driving I was leaving trails in parking lots. When I would let it idle it was almost a flow instead of a drip. I didn't want to replace the seal since in the past everyone I replaced dripped a little. I ended up buying some half inch foam backer rod cutting it in two. Stretching it to get it between the cap and the oil pan. Then stretching each end and working that side in with a screw driver. Now the rear of my motor doesn't leak at all.
