I have a feeling I know the answer to this one, but is it safe to lift the front of a half ton by placing the jack in the center of the axle? I've done it a few times on parts trucks and it doesn't seem to hurt anything and sure makes it easy to slide a couple jack stands under the spring pads. I just don't want to bend my axle.
