Sorry for starting a new post I wasn't thinking, it's probably just the frustration. The fuel pump is the correct for the year of the truck, 1954 and it's not a cheap China made piece of crap either. It's a mechanical fuel pump that looks exactly like the original. The truck did run fine for almost 20 miles, that's why I thought I had it figured out. Then it started dying again, It's still doing the same thing. So I decided to do a complete tune up which didn't fix my issue apparently. I'm really close to buying a whole new carburetor, like you said. The seal for the needle valve seat is there, I rechecked that yesterday. I can check the float by placing it in water, it's the only thing I really haven't done. What are the chances of a new one taking on fuel though? I thought originally it was a ignition problem, at this point I really have no clue.
