Wow, lots of info here! So in the expert opinions, what would be an ideal starter welder for me? I've not had much of a need for a welder before this, but I have many projects that could certainly use one.
My 65 C10 is the primary project, but I also like building woodburning stoves. So I guess I need something that could handle 1/4 inch plate steel as well as body panels and general repair on my truck. Suggestions?
BTW, I have no idea what the difference is between one type of welder or another. The only one I've used had a clamp that attached to the item to be welded and the other clamp had a rod in it. I made little rainbow-shaped movements across the joint and then had to go behind it and tap the carbon off of the weld. What was that?
