Thanks for all the replies. I got it sorted out. The culprit was.... the rubber O-ring!! Just for fun I took the o-ring out and it went straight down in. So I put some oil on the ring and tried pushing down hard and the ring would just not collapse enough. So I used a gasket and Right Stuff instead. I'll see if it leaks.
