True candy is a tinted clear coat of sorts. If you don't know how to spray it you can end up with streaks or worse. It will fade over time and not evenly.
If you want to see what different base coats may look like you can find the red plastic film 'thingy's' in some of the sewing sections of stores (quilt makers use them) and take it to the paint store and lay it over different shades of metallic basecoats to get an idea of what you will end up with.
The best advice has already been given. Don't cut corners and use cheap paint. You will not be happy with the results.
