A picture would help.
If you mean that the flatbed body extends beyond the pivot point at the end of the frame, that's normal. Dump truck bodies end at the pivot point.
If you mean that the steel frame of bed it's self doesn't go to the end of the flat bed, people were always extending them to carry more.
