A friend installed a 700R4 transmission in a 1964 GMC short bed 1/2 ton pickup in his shop. He gave me the 3 speed that was removed from the truck. I'm trying to figure out what it is. It is not a SM318 unit but what seems to be a more heavy duty 3 speed. It is a short, top loader (6 bolts) with a rear flange that bolts to the output shaft like an SM420 and used a driveshaft with a slip joint. It has a casting number on the side of the case C-94981.
I did some research on a GMC site and it lists a Warner T89B
and a New Process 746G as options.
None of the pictures of the Warner look anything like this thing and was unable to find anything on the New Process.
I would appreciate any information on this unit.
