The ZR works better if it is applied directly to the metal so if it is already primered I would suggest painting it with either the top coat you are going to use or some good enamel paint. The stuff available from Tractor and Supply has worked well for me on my trailer and would probably be more than suitable for under the cab. I assume you would be going with your basic black for that area anyway.
