If you want to run newer wider wheels and tires but don't mind the "old school look" try a set of wheels from a mid to late 70's (not sure about the years) 1/2 ton 4x4 Chevy.
'87 or older 4x4, or '70 and older 2wd. Depending on how wide you want to go, you will need wider wheels. You can find the specifications on acceptable wheel widths for a given size tire from the manufacturer.
