They're supposed to fit back into the pressure plate. If the disc is installed with the thick part of the spring hub facing the flywheel, the springs drag on the flywheel attaching bolts and make a rubbing noise when the clutch pedal is depressed. Most discs are marked "flywheel side" for this reason. Jerry
