OK Jim, That is a step forward. Good. Run the motor with new pump out of can. Runs good? Awesome. As you know, you don't want to run it with the old hoses, filter, tank and etc. This now must all be new or renewed.
If new pump does not draw from can. The pump arm is not getting actuated? or there is a crab stuck in the carb inlet.
