I installed the Petronix and am still having advancing or not enough advancing occurring on full acceleration. Talked to Petronix as they thought I could have purchased one of three available for our trucks a couple of years ago. They thought if I had an old unit, it could be indexed wrong.
I have the correct unit for my 228 GMC, so I am still working on getting my advance back.
Any advice?
Did you dig deeper into the distributor to determine the condition of the mechanical advance mechanism? There are springs, advance weights, and the pins which the weights ride on. Lots of places for wear to occur.
