Several years ago, I purchased a seven wire signal flasher switch for my 50 Chevy, it worked fine for a while till the turn signal lever started to rattle causing annoying noise, also half the time, I never knew if it turn on or not because the internal switch mechanism was well basically put garbage.

I had an old 1964, 5 wire Flash All 999 turn signal switch and decide to install that one instead. The truck is six volt, I had already converted to dual filament 1154 bulbs in the front for my park lights and turn signals. In the back I have one bulb for my tail lights wired directly from the light switch and another one single filament bulb for the stop/turn on both sides.

Here's how I did it.

Connected Yellow wire to the left front and left rear lights

Connected Green wire to the right front and right rear lights

Base of the flasher has red(L) and black(P) wires and my hot red(X)from the battery.

All lights and flashers work fine so do the 4 ways by pulling the signal lever out.

Here's my dilemma. How to I set up my brake light switch? If I attached it to my left or right signal wires, the rear brake light comes on but because of the front turn signal that are also attached together they too turn on. Therefor I need a separate wire that would handle the rear brake light by itself which I already have ran a wire from the brake switch going to the rear and will install dual filament bulbs #1154 for the back lights which will deal with the brake lights issue.

So here's the problem, apply brake, rear brake lights turn on, apply turn signal (say left side) with the brake light staying on all the time you can barely see the left signal light bulb flashing. I believe on the newer turn signal switches, the brake light shuts off as the turn signal light flashes therefore it's more visible. Any ideas on how I can get around this?

My turn signal switch is not equipped for a brake light wire and would very much love to use the signal switch because of its age and beauty compared to today's stuff.
