I think you are on to something. I did notice that after I pushed the foot pedal in, it did not return all the way. Of course, that also meant that the lever did not either. It is now resting against the starter switch, but the switch is not fully depressed.
Do you know why this would cause the engine to stick if the starter lever did not return? Thanks.
