I usually have my primer tinted very close to the final color. Quicker coverage and you use less paint. I use Dupont Chromabase and 7900 clear. A cab with hood and fenders will require about 4 qts of Chromabase, which when reduced (1:1), will yield 8 sprayable quarts. Color also dictates how many coats required to acheive coverage. Figure a gallon of clear... HVLP does use less paint if properly setup, but not quite half.

I'd like to learn more about auto-air water based paint. Anyone have any experience with it?
