Thought that I'd share a tip. Most of us have seen stamped tags riveted to engines from past rebuilds showing the specs.

There is someone on eBay who makes stainless steel tags using a WWII dog tag machine. The price is very reasonable at $4.50 per tag. Search eBay using "Custom Engraved Dog Tag Cat Pet Id Tags".

A #6 screw fits through the hole in the tag. Rather than rivet the tags to the block, I drill and tap a 6-32 hole in a bolt or plug for a threaded bung that I won't be using on the block, screw the drilled/threaded bolt or plug into the bung, then attach the dog tag.

I thought others might find this interesting. They come out much better...and I can include more info...than when I stamp my own.They should hold up better over time than laser engraved tags. Here are a few pix.
