I'm converting to a power steering kit that puts a 69-87 box on the outside of the frame. Trying to decide what to do about a steering column. Later model tilt Chevy? or IDIDIT column? or modify the original? Have you ever cut an original column to accept a bearing and universal joint? I see a u-joint offered that converts from the smooth original round shaft to the common DD. I am concerned about a failure-proof connection to the original round shaft. Also where to cut the original shaft and tube.
Another question - How likely am I to find a junk yard power steering box in good condition, or should I just spring for a new one and not take the chance?
I'd like to hear what choices others have made.
