Do it right the first time with a $40 part or do it over and over again with an inferior cheap part? I guess it depends on how much time you have on your hands and how much you like pulling engines.
I can do it right with a $2 rope seal just as easily as I can do it right with a $40 neoprene one. I was only interested in saving a little grief since the rope seals are somewhat of a pain in the [censored] to install. I've only been doing this stuff for about 35 years.
