Now that I have installed the column shifter onto my newly installed steering column, I am asking for advice once again. I have a NOS Maroon Shift Knob. It appears that it is going to be a very tight fit, onto the end of the column shifter. I think that I remember this subject being talked about before. However, I searched back a year, and couldn't find any reference to it. Has anybody had success, installing a 60 year old plastic knob, onto the column shift? My first thought, is to boil it in water. Hopefully, making it just pliable enough to slide onto the shift lever. Has anybody tried this? Or, is there a sure fire way to install it, without damaging the knob? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
