Hi all,
I have a 1952 Chevy 3100 truck that has a persistent odor of gas in the cab. The gas tank was replaced by the previous owner. I’ve noticed what looks like residue from dried gasoline on top of the gas tank, along the entire length of the seam. Is this a common issue with replacement fuel tanks? Any clever suggestions, other than replacing the tank, to remedy this?
I noticed that the tie straps that secure the tank to the cab floor caused the gas tank seam to bend. Maybe this is the cause of the leak?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on how to proceed. I’d like to avoid buying a new gas tank, but it would beat smelling like gasoline every time I drive around the block.
Thanks!
Billy
