The 55 6 cylinder with the pivot on the bellhousing is similar to AD trucks and a one year only for TF trucks. The 55 V-8 trucks and all subsequent 6 cylinder trucks used a different set up.
The later configuration is as follows:
The shifter box has a dog leg to clear the left exhaust manifold.
The side cover is different as both shift levers are pointed downward and slightly forward. There is no similarity with the 55 side cover as the long shifter shaft is on the 2-3 on the 6 cyl version and it is on the 1-R on the V-8 version.
The 2-3 shift rod is one piece.
The clamps that connect the shift rods to the shifter box are different.
There is no change on the 1-R shift rod.
My suggestion would be to obtain the complete linkage conversion from a newer truck and to get the correct side cover.
