I just had my front fenders chemically dipped at Redi-strip. They informed me that the fenders where coated with Iron Phosphate. They informed me that just coating them with regular primer would be okay but I am hearing conflicting infomation.

I talked to a body shop and they mentioned that I need to have a metal etcher sprayed on them right away.

What I want to do is spend sometime working out the a few dents that I have by working the metal and not using any bondo. I have the following questions:
1. Do I need to etch the metal?

2.Do I prime this before I start the body work.

3. Should I use a etching primer if the iron phoshate is already on the metal. Will this cause ill effects?

Please any information will help.
