Solid side windows were common on special equipment panel trucks (1/2 ton and 1 ton). All standard-equipment Suburbans came with sliding side windows (different slide handles and stops were used in different years).

1950 was the first year that a panel truck rear doors model Suburban was available, in addition to the tail-gate/lift-gate type "doors" Suburban.

1947-55 GMCs were called New Design trucks - Chevrolet trucks were called Advance-Design trucks.
