marljohns, I'm sure if you do a search you will find the info you need on ring gears and starter drives, as far as repairing the ring gear all you can do is replace the ring gear, not sure where you are in Washington state, but in the Stanwood area is a shop Buffalo Ent. who can replace the ring gear on your flex plate, he's doing a couple for me, look him up, give him a call
