So, let's see if my logic is correct on this. According to the specs of the Okie bushing for my year truck, which are listed on FS's site, ID and OD of one end is a shade smaller than the ID and OD of the other end, and the smaller end has the seal incorporated in it. This tells me the smaller end would go in first, and you would drive the bushing in until it's flush with the end of the tube. This puts the seal facing the rear end. Which tells me there is no seal at the end of the tube facing the transmission. But there would be no need for a seal there anyway. All we're concerned about is the oil NOT going down the tube to the rear end, and the shaft staying straight and true.
I have not seen the actual bushing, other than the pictures on the sites, so I'm not sure of the design. Once I have it in my hands, I'll know how it goes.
I measured my tube last night, as best I could with a caliper, and after looking at the Okie bushing specs, all should fit snug. I have seen on here before where people had all kinds of problems installing the bushing and having to drive it in with a BFH and all that. I don't mind using a hammer to make it go, but if I have to keep increasing hammer size, something ain't right.
