If the grease cup, spring, and Bakelite washer are in place, and not gunked up, the pressure of the Bakelite disc against the rotating shaft will keep the shaft loaded against one wall of the bushing. That should minimize the tendency for the shaft and the breaker cam to wobble. Unfortunately, the grease in the cup has a habit of getting harder than woodpecker lips!
