What gen. or alt. do you have. There is not a lot of contact area on the 6 cyl. engine for the gen. If it is a high amp gen. or alt. it will put a lot of stain on the belt & it will slip. Check the charging voltage. It should not be over 7.5 on a 6 volt or 14.5 on a 12 volt. There are some cheapy fan belts out there also. Be sure & use a major brand.
