Have you tested the sender?
Remove from tank and meter it
....o empty. 30 full... Since your cluster is out. Hook everything up on a bench and test
....example... remenber to ground the cluster for the test.
Or you could go to radio shack and test with ohm resisters
....example. 30 ohm test.... Don not run power to the wrong post
You could fry your gauge
