Without seeing the truck or engine I can not say for certain how easy the access to the core plugs along the side of the block would be.
Though one should be able to remove those core plugs without removing the engine from the truck making it easier to clean out the water jacket.
Still not as effective as removing the engine and taking it apart and having the block boiled out.
