Be very careful to work the adjusters back and forth to free them up. They have little nubs that engage the bigger cap on the wheel cylinder piston to get it to turn. If you mushroom them flat then you can't back off the brake shoes.

When you get it all apart use lots of Never Seize on the parts so they won't freez up again. I even use it on the pistons in the wheel cylinders which keeps the aluminum pistons from seizing to the iron cylinder. Be careful not to get any on the shoes.
