Ditto to what Bent said. The law is the same here in the US as it is in Canada. Your employer is required by law to provide you with the necessary safety equipment. OSHA is not something to mess with - if your boss thinks he's saving money by skimping on safety equipment, he will find he has made a very expensive mistake if OSHA comes sniffing around.
