1963-1987 Chevy IFS Upgrade to 1947-1955 AD Trucks?

* I started the bolt-in with a '78 Chevy PU front end into my '53 3100 a ways back and just getting back to it (long story - read my intro frown ). I planned to use Centerlines with 1" offset, and finish up 18/7 front, 18/8 rear. I'm assuming to leave front bumper off with this mod to mount Saginaw steering box easiest?

Feedback? Any pointers with steering column u-joints to use etc., are appreciated. I'm just getting this project back so have some time to plan it right.
