Here's the latest plan of attack after talking to several folks and scoping this out on the engine block. I'm going to keep the stock pedal and throttle rod but eliminate the bellcrank. I'll attach a short, vertically mounted length of angle to the boss just under the aft freeze plug and run the throttle rod through that. The tip of the rod will be bent upward forward of this plate to attach to my cable which will be pointing aft. Cable will loop around and up to the carb.
I saw a set up like this years back so will see how this goes.
