Again, not that this is anything crucial, but I don't think the clips could have been attached to the channel before the channel went in. If they were, then the clips couldn't have been slid under those strips of metal. I'd guess they probably had some way to hit the channel to force the spikes through and crimp them over at the same time. Maybe someone in their 80's who worked on that assembly line can chime in on this, but otherwise, I'm just planning to get out the tube of adhesive tonight and have at it.
