In '49 directionals were an add on option. none of the original truck lights were connected to it.
The parking lights were never part of the system. Parking lights were only on for parking and off when the headlights are on.
Neither was the tail light/brake light because the truck only had one (right one was an add on option).
Most directional kits had the switch for the column and 4 lights that mounted on the front fenders and rear bed or fenders.
