"This ain't rocket surgery"- - - - -just fire it up! You're dealing with cast iron, steel, and aluminum- - - -not tissue paper! If it doesn't settle down and quit making oddball noises after a couple of minutes of run time, then start looking for problems.
Brand new hydraulic lifters sometimes take several minutes to pump up completely, but they aren't going to cause any problems as long as the engine is run up to 2K RPM as soon as oil pressure is showing on the gauge you plumbed into the pressure port instead of relying on the dash gauge, like I suggested.
Run it well above idle speed for at least 20 minutes to run-in the cam and lifters.
