Is the power glide empty? If the torque converter is empty and no oil in the transmission you will probably need 8-10 qts. You don't want to run it dry, put in 4/5 qts start engine and check trans. oil level, it will pump into the torque converter and the pan will be empty. So check it quickly, you will burn up the pump if you run it dry.
